Primary English Programme

Our Primary English Programme is designed to give your child a strong foundation in the four core areas of language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

With a balance of clear instruction, guided practice, independent work, and ongoing feedback, your child will steadily build confidence and skill in each area.

Lessons include creative exercises and activities that make learning enjoyable and also prepare your child for exam success. These skills and techniques will be invaluable as they progress through school and work towards the PSLE.

Primary 1 & 2

Your child will begin developing essential reading and writing skills. They will:

  • Strengthen comprehension and vocabulary.
  • Learn to write short paragraphs clearly.
  • Understand and apply basic grammar rules.
  • Build confidence through storytelling and simple presentation activities.

Primary 3 & 4

As your child progresses, they will refine and expand their skills. They will:

  • Improve reading accuracy and develop analytical skills for comprehension.
  • Learn to analyse different text types and identify key ideas.
  • Use more advanced grammar and vocabulary in their writing.
  • Write longer, more detailed narratives with varied themes.
  • Express themselves with descriptive language in both writing and speech.

Primary 5 & 6

In the final stage, your child will prepare for the rigours of upper primary and the PSLE. They will:

  • Apply complex grammar and vocabulary with confidence.
  • Develop critical thinking to understand and respond to complex texts.
  • Write well-structured compositions that meet exam requirements.
  • Master advanced writing and presentation skills to communicate ideas clearly and effectively.

By Primary 6, your child will be equipped with the language skills, confidence, and strategies needed to excel in PSLE and beyond!
